Support for Other Symposia
Are you looking to organize a symposium at an ACS Regional Meeting or other conference?
The Division of Biological Chemistry provides grants on a competitive basis to its members to support symposia at ACS Regional meetings and for conferences in research areas of interest to the Division membership. Up to $250 may be awarded for a symposium, up to $750 for a short conference and up to $1500 for a longer conference.

Applications will be reviewed twice a year at the Division’s Business meetings, which are generally held during the Spring and Fall ACS National Meetings.
The deadlines for receipt of applications are March 1 and August 1 for review at the Spring and Fall ACS meetings, respectively. Proposals received after a given deadline will be held for consideration at the business meeting associated with the next deadline.
GRS & GRC Chairs and symposia organizers from Regional ACS Meetings should coordinate to make a single application to the program.

These awards are intended to provide our members with fora in which to present their work, and to support conferences on biochemistry/chemical biology. Proposals judged not to meet these objectives, such as requests for blanket support of regional ACS meetings, are unlikely to be funded.
If funding is sought for a symposium, requests will only be accepted from a conference chair, who must be a DBC member (chair of the symposium).
Requests will only be considered from non-profit entities.

Support is meant to encourage meetings that:
• Are highly accessible and diverse (low cost, attendees at all career stages and professional tracks, underrepresented groups).
• Serve division of biological chemistry (DBC) members (members constitute a significant fraction of attendees), the topic is central to our division (rather than peripherally biochemical).
